The development of digitization has had a direct impact on our society, and the art world is no exception. Since the 2000s, artists have had to adapt to this new reality, in which technology plays an immense role in our everyday lives. The image-creation industry has been transformed with the advent of the Internet, smartphones and social media, and artists have been able to make use of this digital age to enrich their artistic practices. While some employ the digital as material, others utilize it in their creative processes or in disseminating their work.
This exhibition is intended to provide a snapshot of a number of painters’ digital work. Through it you will be able to see the various directions taken in handling pixels by artists as different as Marie-Eve Beaulieu, Louis-Philippe Côté, Jean-Sébastien Denis, Isabelle Guimond, Jacques Hurtubise, Alexis Lavoie, Mark Stebbins and Françoise Sullivan.
