Including canvases and works on paper by Marcel Barbeau, Ann Hamilton, Yves Gaucher and Irene F. Whittome, the exhibition De but en blancis bathed in light. In the works on view here, these artists have transcended the blank page—or canvas—syndrome. They make use of their works’ supports by revealing their inherent aesthetic qualities, appropriating, if not pushing to the fore, the brilliance of the blank surface.
