InFables, her third solo exhibition at the gallery since 2008,Éliane Excoffierwill be showing some 15 of her recent medium-sized photographs. They are, for the most part, in black and white, but certain of them feature the washed-out colours of the old-style photography that emulated classical painting.
Experimenting with traditional photographic techniques and investigating the representation of the female body have long inspired her. Now, however, Éliane Excoffier has turned her lens on herself, staging works that feature animals and incidentals from her rural environment. Thanks to palpably natural lighting, her subjects seem to suddenly emerge from the shadows, revealing a wealth of motifs and textures. Within an unmistakeably theatrical atmosphere, she brings stories to light, weaving them, bit by bit, from one photograph to another.
