Françoise Sullivan

Arundel
Sept. 11, 2013 to Oct. 12, 2013

On display in this exhibition will be a number of recent works by one of the major figures in modern Québec art. Resolutely abstract in nature, they reveal a painstakingly painterly touch and the artist’s skill at creating dynamic compositions by means of an assertive arrangement of form and background. In them, clear, vivid hues are carefully applied upon a flat, neutral tint, with circular forms sometimes delineated, like graphic masses moving within the pictorial space. The result is a group of works that, through the purity of their technique, will at once astonish the viewer and demonstrate their remarkable consistency with the whole of Sullivan’s œuvre.
