A continuation of one recently presented at the Maison de la culture Mercier, this new exhibition of paintings by Jessica Peters enables us to witness the artist’s ongoing exploration of places near her studio. Fascinated by the optical phenomenon of reflection, Peters makes use of the reflective qualities of both certain of the surfaces of the architectural structures she depicts and the medium she works in. In this way, the interplay of reflections is revealed in compositions comprising illusory perspectives and built spaces that are fragmented, distorted or split in two; for its part, the painting medium intensifies the impression of reflection due to the range of effects it results in. It all contributes to astounding the viewer whose eye is caught by the works on view.
