A psychedelic rock album inspired by Jacques Hurtubise

Jan. 25, 2025

In 2023, Montreal trio Hippie Hourrah released an album entitled Exposition individuelle, inspired by the work of painter Jacques Hurtubise. The spark that ignited the album was the painter's death in 2014. The work featured on the album cover is a reproduction of Onibaba, 1972. The singer and his band of the time composed a song in his honor. Cédric Marinelli subsequently gained access to the painter's studio and old books. The singer and his accomplices Miles Dupire-Gagnon and Gabriel Lambert drew inspiration from the life and work of Jacques Hurtubise to write the concept album Exposition individuelle.
